8.1 June 29 Spoke with Steward R. Negron who received denial on grievance # 001961. Spoke to Whitley on grievance 001925, sent in step 3 form. 8.2 July 2 Spoke w/Brett on new member orientation and meeting with man- agement to bargain tour selection and grievance procedure. Sent step 3 notice for # 001925 to Local. 8.3 July 3 Conference call with Whitley and Brett on tour selection, etc. 8.4 July 9 Step 2 notification for grievance #001960. Advised member we are sending to step 2. 8.5 July 12 Step 2 grievance in NJ with Brett on Network Engineers doing B/U work. Put on hold pending more info. Spoke with OM about mold problem. He will remove the rug in question. 8.6 July 13 Step 2 notification to Mgr R Hodes, #s 001943/44. 8.7 July 17 Spoke with terminated member about his concerns with the “slowness” of grievance process. Spoke to Brett about date to meet on it. 8.8 July 23 Set meeting date for 001963/64 grievances More talks on tour selection. 8.9 July 25 Spoke to someone in Joe Moran’s office regarding no response from him on grievance # 001960 in the allotted time. Advised her I have receipt confirming they received notification. 8.10 Aug 13 Grievance meeting in Middletown with Brett and Negron. 8.11 Aug 20 Spoke with member regarding domestic partner health benefits. Confimed that Company received notification on grievance on same. 8.12 Motion to receive Swanson, second, Brett. Carried 9.0 Area Director Report D. Duffy 9.1 Spoke with members concerning additional work. Clerks taking calls from outside customers. 9.2 Spoke with Zayac and other managers concerning our office assisting other of offices in p/u their tickets and doing our own pre-service work. Was assured that will not happen. 9.3 There is concern that on-line courses we are being required to take will be counted towards the 40 training requirement. 9.4 Next Alliance meeting tentatively on Sept 21. 9.5 Motion to receive, Brett, second, Naviera. Worked on health care issue for member. 10.5 July 5 & 9 Continued work on health care problem. 10.6 July 12 Grievance meetin in Monmouth Jct. Carried. 11.0 Old Business 11.1 Whitley read report from Local EAP counselor James T. Rogers, AKA “the Chief.” 11.2 Results of Vice President election reported by letters from Election Committee Chair Mable Gadsden. (see attached) 11.3 Update on NLRB charges filed against Local and Company. 11.4 Contract ratified for new members in Monmouth Junction by 71-6 vote. 12.0 New Business 12.1 Brett will distribute membership to new members in NJ 12.2 Local is being asked to participate in United Way drive. Motion by Naviera seconded by Faranda that Local 1150 remain neutral, noting that CWA- Pediatric Aids Foundation is officaial “Charity of Choice.” 12.3 Discussion of outside contractor problem in Monmouth Jct. 12.4 Motion by Brett, second, Duffy to approve O/T agreement for Monmouth Jct, with addition to Para 3. Carried 12.5 Motion by Brett, second, Swanson to appoint Gerald (Jay) Laughlin as New Jersey Area Director. Carried. 12.6 Naviera will solicit nominees for shop steward in Monmouth Jct. 12.7 NYC Central Labor Council activities for Labor Day; Sat 9/8 there will be a rally at 7 WTC, 10 AM; Sun 9/9 there will be a Labor Mass at St. Patrick’s., 10:15 AM 13.0 Motion to adjourn by Brett, second Duffy.
