C & T Conference Call
VP Ralph Maly and the CWA Bargaining team held a conference call on 5/21/09.  They went over some of the issues that have been discussed at the bargaining table and some that have not.  AT&T and CWA are still very far apart on bargaining.  The Company's healthcare proposal is the same as the one that was presented on April 4th.  CWA has presented a counter offer but the Company has not responded.  In the Company's current proposal they are looking for a 24% cost share shift to the members.  The Company is also looking for a 2-tier system where new hires which would also include employees that were laid off and had no recall rights but returned to the Company would have no healthcare and no pension.  There is still no discussions regarding retiree benefits.  The Company is stating this is a condition of bargaining and refuses to enter into discussion.

The Company is proposing to change language to 10 hour double time which will ensure mandatory overtime.  Also they proposed changes in call-in pay and make it mandatory vs. it's current voluntary language.

The Company has proposed to change FMLA language for employees wishing to take unpaid FMLA to care for a family member, they would have to use vacation and personal leave first.

There has been no movement on JOG/Job security.  The Company has proposed to reduce Alliance funding and cut it in half.

All bargaining is stagnant.  District 6 is the only District that has received a last, best and final offer.  the company is now trying to go directly to the members to have the members force the District to vote on the proposed contract.  The members cannot be blinded by the proposal because there is a lot of hidden items such as no job secuity and reduces benefits and wages.  The Company is trying tow ork around the Union and go directly to the members.  The members must stay STRONG!

The C&T bargaining team is continuing to work toward a fair contract for the members.  Going forward, MOBILIZATION will be the key.  More information about mobilization activities in Local 1150 will be coming soon.
