This is Vinny Whitley, President CWA Local 1150. It’s Friday, August 20th 2010 at 3:30PM. At the executive board meeting, on this past Wednesday, I swore in our new Secretary-Treasurer, Yvonne Pacheco. We are all looking forward to work with her and wish her the best of luck in her new job. At the same meeting, we said good bye to Bob Swanson. Bob has been the Secretary-Treasurer since 1987. His 23 years of service to the union and this local will be truly missed. We wish him luck and good healthin his retirement. Also, NJ Chief Steward, Frank Giordani, has resigned. We will have an election to fill out the remainder of his term. The nominating period begins today and will close on Friday, September the 9th. Nominating petitions are available online on our website. Until then, the NJ Chief Steward office will be filled by George Zagatta. George has been a past NJ Chief Steward and needs no training. This is Vinny Whitley, President CWA Local 1150. It’s Friday, July 30th at 3 PM. Vice President, Bill Naveira and myself are back from the 72nd Annual Convention in Washington, DC. At the convention, the delegates heard 10 appeals. Seven of the appeals were denied by the delegates. Two appeals were sustained and will be arbitrated. One was withdrawn when the National Union agreed to arbitrate the grievance. We also heard 7 Constitutional Amendments and 12 Resolutions. Constitutional Amendment number 3 has combined the Communications and Technologies Office with the Telcom office creating the new Telcom and Technologies Office. Amendment number 4 was approved to have a bi-annual convention starting after the 2011 convention. Amendment 6, was a proposal to create a Telcom Sector Vice President. This proposal was submitted over 20 CWA Local Presidents from the Adhoc Committee, including myself. This proposal was denied. Of the 12 resolutions, number 3 was okayed to combine District 2 and District 13. NJ Chief Steward has informed me that he is resigning from his office. Steward George Zagatta will take his place until we have an election. We will set the dates at the next executive board meeting. Thank you for calling.

This is Vinny Whitley, President CWA Local 1150. It’s Wednesday, June 16th at 10:30 AM. AT&T announced a surplus/vtp yesterday. Nationwide the surplus number is 131 with an off payroll date of August 20th. In this Local, no VTP was offered. On the surplus 1 service order administrator, 4 assemblers, and 19 Communications Technician. They are shutting down the INCS center. there will be no comm techs in the city. The election committee met on Monday, June 14th. There will be a new election held for secretary-treasurer . Ballots will be mailed out on Friday, June 18th. Thank you for calling.

This is Vinny Whitely, President, CWA Local 1150. It’s Friday, May the15th, 2010 at 4 pm. The ballots have been counted for the position of Secretary-Treasurer and Yvonne Pacheco received 100 votes and Nancy Brett received 74. There is a challenge to the election and our Election Chairperson, Mable Gadsden, is in touch with our CWA Lawyer on this issue. Until this is resolved, Bob Swanson will continue as Secretary-Treasurer. I will update the tape as soon as I get more information. Thank you for calling.

This is Vinny Whitley, President CWA Local 1150. It’s Thursday March 18th, 2010 at 3 pm. I made an error on the last tape. The surplus numbers are 4 NTS in NY and 2 Production Specialists in Middletown, NJ. It is my duty to inform the membership that Bob Swanson is retiring as Secretary-Treasurer of our Local. We wish him well. We will have an election for that position. Nominations open today and will close on Monday, April 12th. Nominating petitions are available on our website. Ballots will be mailed out by Wednesday, April 14th. The ballots are due back at the Local by Thursday, May 13th. It’s also my sad duty to inform the members of our Local of the passing of Adele Hector, a lifelong member of this Local from the beginning. She worked very hard to archive the Local’s records at NYU. She will be missed. Thank you for calling.
